The novel fetal MRI O/E CLV versus O/E LHR in predicting prognosis in congenital diaphragmatic hernias: can we teach an old dog new tricks?

Published: Reading: 1 min

Topic overview

Study of 74 CDH patients demonstrates that fetal MRI measurement of contralateral lung volume (O/E CLV) outperforms traditional ultrasound lung-to-head ratio (O/E LHR) in predicting ECMO need and survival outcomes. O/E CLV showed superior accuracy with AUC of 0.81 vs 0.74 for ECMO prediction and 0.84 vs 0.64 for survival to discharge.
