Assessing Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) Compliance and Disparities for Pediatric Inpatients at a Tertiary Care Facility

This quality improvement study evaluated implementation of a mandatory electronic screening tool for alcohol and drug use (SBIRT) in adolescent inpatients at a pediatric trauma center. Screening rates increased from 0% to 34.4% post-implementation, though compliance remained suboptimal and disparities in screening practices were identified across patient subgroups.
