Effect of transanastomotic feeding tubes on anastomotic strictures in patients with esophageal atresia and tracheoesophageal fistula: The Quebec experience

Multicenter Quebec study of 244 EATEF patients finds transanastomotic tubes significantly increase anastomotic stricture risk (36% vs 19%, OR 2.72) without reducing TPN duration. Results challenge routine TAT use in esophageal atresia repair, suggesting potential harm without clear nutritional benefit.
