Tissue expansion in pediatric patients: a 10-year review

Ten-year retrospective review of 93 tissue expanders in 24 pediatric patients found a 20% complication rate, with premature removal required in nine cases. Patients experiencing expander complications had three times higher odds of subsequent flap complications, though most reconstructions remained successful despite setbacks.
