Facial Location and Operating Room Environment are the Risk Factors for Incomplete Excision of Melanocytic Nevi

Retrospective study of 739 melanocytic nevi excisions identified facial location (42% incomplete) and operating room setting (19% incomplete) as significant risk factors for positive margins, while surgical oncology outpatient excisions had the lowest failure rate (8%). Findings suggest human factors and procedural environment significantly impact surgical quality in nevus excision.
