Prevalence, management and outcome of cryptorchidism associated with gastroschisis: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Topic overview
Systematic review of 175 patients reveals cryptorchidism occurs in 19% of gastroschisis cases, significantly higher than general population. Half of undescended testes descend spontaneously, but overall outcomes are poor with 26% experiencing testicular loss, hypoplasia, or recurrence, particularly in intra-abdominal or prolapsed presentations.
