Parental Presence during Induction of Anesthesia Improves Compliance of the Child and Reduces Emergence Delirium

Prospective study of 638 pediatric surgical patients demonstrates that combining parental presence during induction with midazolam premedication achieves optimal outcomes: 81% perfect compliance, reduced preoperative anxiety, and significantly lower emergence delirium rates. This dual-strategy approach outperforms either intervention alone across all pediatric age groups in ambulatory surgery settings.
