Systematic review of 337 patients reveals children with esophageal atresia face 130-fold increased lifetime cancer risk from diagnostic radiation compared to general NICU population. Authors recommend symptom-guided imaging protocols and increased use of non-radiating modalities like ultrasound to reduce cumulative exposure burden.
