Outcomes of Bariatric Surgery in Older Versus Younger Adolescents

This 5-year prospective study of 242 adolescents demonstrates that younger teens (13-15 years) achieve similar weight loss, comorbidity resolution, and quality of life outcomes compared to older adolescents (16-19 years) after bariatric surgery. Age alone should not exclude younger adolescents from surgical consideration for severe obesity.
