Ultrasonography is useful in differentiating between cystic biliary atresia and choledochal cyst

This retrospective study of 98 infants demonstrates that serial ultrasonography can reliably differentiate cystic biliary atresia from choledochal cyst by tracking cyst volume changes, gallbladder morphology, and triangular cord sign presence. Key distinguishing features include static cyst size and atrophic gallbladder in CBA versus enlarging cysts and normal gallbladder in CC, enabling earlier diagnosis and appropriate surgical planning.
