Twenty Years of Gut Transplantation for Chronic Intestinal Pseudo-obstruction: Technical Innovation, Long-term Outcome, Quality of Life, and Disease Recurrence

Twenty-year study of 55 CIPO patients undergoing gut transplantation shows 69% five-year survival with sustained nutritional autonomy in 70% of long-term survivors. Adult recipients and those receiving antilymphocyte pretreatment demonstrated superior outcomes, while disease recurrence remained rare at 7%.
