Thoracoscopic lobectomy through the pulmonary hilum approach for the treatment of congenital lung malformation
Topic overview
Retrospective study of 432 pediatric patients demonstrates that thoracoscopic lobectomy via pulmonary hilum approach safely treats congenital lung malformations even with incomplete interlobar fissures, avoiding conversion to open surgery. While incomplete fissures increased operative time and blood loss, the approach achieved zero conversions and low complication rates in both complete and incomplete fissure groups.
