Lessons learned from lower urinary tract complications of anorectoplasty for imperforate anus with rectourethral/rectovesical fistula: Laparoscopy- assisted versus posterior sagittal approaches

Retrospective comparison of 153 boys with imperforate anus and rectourethral fistula treated by laparoscopic versus posterior sagittal approaches over 33 years. Laparoscopic approach showed higher incidence of posterior urethral diverticulum (8.9% vs 0%), while open approach had more intraoperative injuries; refined dissection techniques eliminated new complications.
