Outcomes of Gastrostomy Placement with and without Concomitant Tracheostomy among Ventilator Dependent Children

Retrospective study of 1,100 ventilator-dependent children under 2 years demonstrates that simultaneous gastrostomy and tracheostomy placement does not increase postoperative complications compared to gastrostomy alone. Combined procedures may safely reduce anesthetic exposure in this high-risk population.
