BILIARY ATRESIA LIVER HISTOPATHOLOGICAL DETERMINANTS OF EARLY POST-KASAI OUTCOME

Retrospective study of 85 biliary atresia patients identifies portal plate bile duct size <150μm and severe hepatocellular swelling as independent predictors of poor post-Kasai outcomes, regardless of surgical timing. These histologic findings correlate with failure to clear jaundice and reduced short-term survival.
