Long-Term Morbidity of Choledochal Malformations in Children

Long-term follow-up study of 55 pediatric choledochal malformation patients over median 5.8 years found 21% developed complications, most commonly recurrent cholangitis. Early-onset liver fibrosis correlated with younger surgical age, and one-quarter showed persistent liver dysfunction despite successful surgical correction.
