COVID-19 pre-procedural testing strategy and early outcomes at a large tertiary care children’s hospital

Children's Wisconsin implemented a universal pre-procedural COVID-19 testing protocol that enabled safe resumption of near-normal surgical volume within three months of pandemic onset. Testing 11,150 patients with 1.4% positivity rate, the protocol prevented in-hospital viral transmission while minimizing resource use.
