Retrospective study of 237 children with CPAM found infection rates significantly increase after age 2 (45.7% vs 11.4%), leading to higher lobectomy rates and greater blood loss. Authors recommend elective surgery before age 2 for asymptomatic CPAM types I and II to reduce infection risk and preserve surgical options.
