Technical factors and outcomes in pediatric central venous port placement

Retrospective study of 331 pediatric port placements found 5.1% early revision rate, with leukemia patients at higher risk (9.0%). Ultrasound-guided internal jugular approach showed lower conversion rates than landmark subclavian technique, while proceduralist volume and specialty influenced complication rates and fluoroscopy exposure.
