Contemporary Outcomes of the Foker Process and Evolution of Treatment Algorithms for Long-Gap Esophageal Atresia

Study of 102 long-gap esophageal atresia patients shows significant improvements in Foker process outcomes (2014-2020 vs historical controls), with reduced complications including fewer leaks, fractures, and failures. Minimally invasive approaches further decreased intubation time and paralysis duration while maintaining equivalent safety, with 62% of patients predominantly orally fed at one year.
