Pediatric Adaptions Are Needed to Improve the Diagnostic Accuracy of Thyroid Ultrasound Using TI-RADS
Topic overview
Retrospective study of 115 pediatric patients demonstrates that TI-RADS classification system can improve diagnostic accuracy for thyroid nodules in children compared to current ATA guidelines. Using TI-RADS ≥3 without size cutoff achieved 100% sensitivity while reducing unnecessary biopsies from 82.6% to 23.2-68.1% of nodules.
