Percutaneous Peritoneal Drain Placement: A Pilot Study of Pediatric Surgery Simulation-based Training for General Surgery Residents

Pilot study demonstrates that simulation-based training for percutaneous peritoneal drain placement in perforated NEC significantly improves general surgery residents' confidence and technical proficiency. Nine PGY-3 residents showed sustained improvement at 3-month follow-up, supporting simulation as an effective method to address low pediatric surgery case volumes in general surgery training.
