Early enteral feeding after intestinal anastomosis in children: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials

Meta-analysis of 4 RCTs (186 pediatric patients) demonstrates that early enteral feeding within 48 hours after intestinal anastomosis reduces hospital stay, surgical infections, and time to full feeds without increasing anastomotic leak risk. Evidence supports early feeding protocols as safe and beneficial in pediatric bowel surgery.
