Predictive Factors and Outcomes for Successful Thoracoscopic Lung Resection in Pediatric Patients

Retrospective study of 96 pediatric lung resections found 72% were attempted thoracoscopically with 22% converting to open. Age under 1 year and absence of preoperative infection/symptoms predicted successful thoracoscopic completion, which offered significant advantages in blood loss, opioid use, and recovery time compared to open thoracotomy.
