Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase Inhibitor Therapy in the Treatment of Inflammatory Myofibroblastic Tumors in Pediatric Patients: Case Reports and Literature Review

Systematic review of 29 pediatric patients with ALK-positive inflammatory myofibroblastic tumors demonstrates successful treatment with ALK inhibitors either as monotherapy (41% achieving remission) or combined with surgical resection. Findings suggest targeted ALK inhibition offers a less morbid alternative to traditional surgical-only approaches for this rare tumor subtype.
