Epidemiology and Outcome of Major Congenital Malformations in a Large German County

Registry study of 283 neonates in Germany (2010-2015) with five major surgical malformations found mortality rates ranging from 1.8% (gastroschisis) to 27.5% (CDH). One-third were born outside surgical centers, and higher-volume centers achieved shorter hospital stays, suggesting centralization benefits for complex neonatal anomalies.
