Comparison of thoracoscopy vs. thoracotomy on musculoskeletal outcomes of children with congenital pulmonary airway malformation (CPAM)

Long-term follow-up study of 35 pediatric CPAM patients demonstrates that video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery significantly reduces scapular winging compared to open thoracotomy (13% vs 58%), with minimal impact on chest wall dimensions. Other musculoskeletal outcomes showed no significant differences between surgical approaches.
