Therapeutic strategies for stricturing Crohn’s disease in childhood: a systematic review

Systematic review of 177 pediatric patients with stricturing Crohn's disease found surgical resection had the lowest recurrence rate (9%) compared to stricturoplasty (38%) and endoscopic balloon dilatation (47%), with similar complication rates across interventions. Medical therapy alone achieved complete response in only 8% of cases, highlighting the need for procedural intervention in most pediatric stricturing CD.
