Does a standardized operative approach in cloacal reconstruction allow for preservation of a patent urethra?

Standardized surgical protocol for cloacal malformation repair based on urethral and common channel length measurements achieved 97% urethral patency in 59 patients. Approach selection (PSARP+I, TUM, or UGS) guided by preoperative 3D imaging and endoscopy resulted in only 2 cases of urethral compromise, demonstrating effectiveness of anatomy-based operative planning.
