The Potential and the Limitations of Esophageal Robotic Surgery in Children

Multicenter French study of 18 pediatric esophageal robotic-assisted thoracoscopic surgeries demonstrates feasibility in children over 15kg, with successful completion of duplications, atresia repairs, and Heller myotomies. Main limitation remains trocar size incompatibility with small intercostal spaces in lower-weight patients, though four procedures under 15kg were completed without complications.
