Prophylactic Negative Vacuum Therapy of High-Risk Esophageal Anastomoses in Pediatric Patients

This retrospective study evaluated prophylactic negative pressure vacuum therapy placed at high-risk esophageal anastomoses in 16 pediatric patients. Results showed no reduction in leak rates compared to controls and significantly higher long-term anastomotic failure, suggesting current pEVAC approaches may not benefit this population.
