Published: Reading: 1 min

Topic overview

Retrospective analysis of 573 pediatric trauma patients on ECMO (1989-2018) demonstrates 55.3% overall survival, with significantly better outcomes for venovenous versus venoarterial support (74.3% vs 41.7%). Complication rates were comparable to non-trauma ECMO cohorts, supporting ECMO use in pediatric trauma patients.
