Safety of delayed surgical repair of omphalocele–exstrophy–imperforate anus–spinal defects (OEIS) complex in infants with significant comorbidities

Published: Reading: 1 min

Topic overview

Retrospective study of 10 OEIS complex patients demonstrates that delaying first-stage exstrophy repair (6-87 days) to optimize cardiopulmonary and neurologic stability is safe, with no urinary tract infections occurring pre-repair. All surgically repaired patients achieved discharge without parenteral nutrition or oxygen support.
