Predictive Value of Alvarado Score and Pediatric Appendicitis Score in the Success of Nonoperative Management for Simple Acute Appendicitis in Children

Study of 85 pediatric patients with simple acute appendicitis treated nonoperatively identifies key predictors of treatment failure. High-risk Alvarado score (≥7), presence of appendicolith, and older age significantly correlate with need for eventual appendectomy, with failure rate of 32.9% over 7-month follow-up.
