Early experience with universal preoperative and pre-procedural screening for COVID-19 in low-risk pediatric surgical patients requiring general anesthesia

Single-center study of 66 low-risk pediatric surgical patients undergoing universal preoperative COVID-19 screening found zero positive cases among asymptomatic children with no known exposure. Results suggest limited yield of universal screening in low-risk populations, though larger studies needed to guide policy.
