Patience is a virtue: Multiple preoperative visits are associated with decreased recurrence in pediatric pilonidal disease

Retrospective study of 120 pediatric patients undergoing trephination for pilonidal disease found that multiple preoperative clinic visits significantly reduced recurrence rates (11% vs 26%). Patients with recurrence had shorter preoperative intervals, suggesting extended medical management before surgery may improve outcomes.
