Medical alert card: a valuable tool in the management of Hirschsprung’s-associated enterocolitis from parental perspective

Study of 123 Hirschsprung's disease patients found that medical alert cards for enterocolitis (HAEC) were valued by 96% of families, with 89% carrying them regularly. When presented to medical staff, the cards increased HAEC awareness in 83% of cases and prompted tertiary center contact in 53% of encounters.
