Resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta (REBOA) for temporization of hemorrhage in adolescent trauma patients
Topic overview
This case series demonstrates that resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta (REBOA) is technically feasible in adolescent trauma patients, including those in traumatic arrest. Seven patients aged 17±1.5 years received REBOA for hemorrhage control, with 57% achieving return of spontaneous circulation and surviving to the operating room despite presenting in extremis.
