Perineal Groove: An Anorectal Malformation Network, Consortium Study

This multi-center retrospective study of 66 patients demonstrates that perineal groove, frequently misdiagnosed as anal fissure and associated with anorectal malformations in 35% of cases, typically resolves spontaneously with expectant management in most patients by 15 months of age, with surgery reserved for complications or concurrent anorectal reconstruction.
