Quality of life after esophageal replacement in children
Topic overview
Study of 14 patients who underwent esophageal replacement for long gap esophageal atresia found that most achieved normal quality of life scores comparable to healthy controls, regardless of surgical technique (gastric pull-up or jejunum interposition). Postoperative complications like heartburn and dysphagia did not significantly impact long-term quality of life outcomes.
