Germ cells positive for PLAP and c-Kit in 11–16 year old normal boys with ongoing spermatogenesis
Topic overview
Study of 31 adolescent boys (11-16 years) undergoing testicular surgery demonstrates that PLAP and c-Kit positivity in germ cells is a normal finding during pubertal maturation, not indicative of pre-malignant GCNIS. 87% showed positive staining for both markers without histological features of neoplasia, suggesting these markers reflect ongoing spermatogenic development rather than malignant transformation.
