Repeat serial transverse enteroplasty leads to reduction in parenteral nutrition in children with short bowel syndrome
Topic overview
Retrospective study of 23 pediatric patients who underwent repeat serial transverse enteroplasty (2STEP) for intestinal redilation after initial STEP procedure. Results showed significant reduction in parenteral nutrition dependence at long-term follow-up, with 13 patients achieving complete independence from parenteral support, supporting 2STEP as a viable option for selected patients with short bowel syndrome.
