Splenectomy with proximal spleno-left portal shunt for extrahepatic portal vein obstruction in children
Topic overview
This study presents splenectomy with proximal spleno-left portal shunt as an effective alternative to Rex shunt for pediatric EHPVO patients when standard approaches are unsuitable. In 14 children followed for up to 42 months, the technique demonstrated good outcomes with minimal variceal rebleeding and improved variceal grades postoperatively.
