Imaged-guided and muscle sparing laparoscopic anorectoplasty using real-time magnetic resonance imaging

This study demonstrates the feasibility of real-time MRI-guided laparoscopic anorectoplasty for imperforate anus repair, enabling precise needle placement through the sphincter muscle complex while minimizing tissue injury. Five pediatric patients underwent the procedure with no intraoperative complications, validating RT MRI-LAARP as a muscle-sparing alternative to traditional stepwise MRI guidance.
