Natural history of gastroesophageal reflux in infancy: new data from a prospective cohort

This prospective cohort study of 157 healthy term infants tracked gastroesophageal reflux from birth to 12 months, finding physiological GER peaked at 3 months (59%) and GERD at 1 month (19%), with most cases resolving spontaneously. The I-GERQ-R questionnaire proved useful for screening and monitoring, supporting parental reassurance about the generally favorable prognosis.
