Balloon venoplasty as primary modality of treatment in children with Budd–Chiari syndrome

This retrospective study of 35 children with Budd-Chiari syndrome demonstrates that balloon venoplasty as primary treatment achieved successful recanalization in 74% of cases, with 14 patients remaining alive and symptom-free. The authors propose an algorithm prioritizing early radiological intervention over surgical shunting or transplantation for pediatric BCS management.
