Early nephrectomy in neonates with symptomatic autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease

Retrospective study of 11 neonates with symptomatic ARPKD requiring early nephrectomy finds all patients ultimately needed bilateral kidney removal. Initial bilateral nephrectomy resulted in fewer TPN days compared to staged unilateral approach, suggesting synchronous bilateral removal may optimize outcomes.
