Pediatric firearm mortality in the United States, 2010 to 2016: A National Trauma Data Bank analysis.

Analysis of 45,288 pediatric firearm injuries from 2010-2016 reveals 12% mortality, with increasing trends in self-inflicted injuries and associated deaths (35.3% to 47.8%). Treatment at pediatric trauma centers showed protective effect against mortality compared to adult facilities, with head injuries carrying highest fatality risk at 51.3%.
