Laparoscopic diverticulectomy or laparoscopic-assisted resection of symptomatic Meckel diverticulum in children? A systematic review
Topic overview
Systematic review of 248 pediatric cases comparing laparoscopic diverticulectomy versus laparoscopic-assisted resection for symptomatic Meckel diverticulum found no significant difference in complication rates. Diverticulectomy is appropriate for most cases with <1% risk of residual ectopic mucosa, while resection is preferred for short wide diverticula or those with base complications.
