A Continuous Suture Anastomosis Outperforms a Simple Interrupted Suture Anastomosis in Esophageal Elongation

Ex vivo porcine study demonstrates that continuous suture anastomosis achieves 1.44 cm greater esophageal length gain compared to interrupted suture technique when subjected to linear traction. This finding may have clinical implications for primary repair of long-gap esophageal atresia where millimeters of tissue determine anastomotic feasibility.
